Thomas O’Driscoll

About Thomas O’Driscoll

Thomas O’Driscoll (sometimes seen as Driscoll) was born in Ireland about 1800. He married Margaret Manning in his native land. In 1860, Thomas emigrated to America, about 10 years after his son Daniel. We do not know what happened to Margaret.

Thomas and Margaret (Manning) O’Driscoll had 6 children:

  • Capt. Daniel J. O’Driscoll, b. 31 Oct 1831, County Cork, Ireland; married Sarah Hardy
  • Mary O’Driscoll, b. abt 1836, Ireland; married Michael O’Keefe.
  • Thomas O’Driscoll, b. abt. 1839, Ireland; married Mary A. or Marianne; moved to Chicago for a number of years.
  • Margaret O’Driscoll, b. abt. 1843, Ireland; married William Cunningham.
  • Honora “Nora” O’Driscoll, b. abt. 1846, Ireland; married Manfred Washington France; you will see many of the girls in future generations with the Given name of Middle name France. We assume after Nora and her husband.
  • Catherine “Kitty” O’Driscoll, b. abt. 1850, probably Ireland; married Charles Decamp.

In 1870 we find Thomas settled and doing well in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is listed in the census as working in a cooper shop (made barrels).

Thomas died 8 August 1890 while visiting his son in Chicago. He was buried 10 Aug. 1890 in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
